What types of diamonds are available at Kashi Diamonds?
We sell all types of diamonds, both white and fancy color. All of our diamonds are 100% natural. Our company has been cutting diamonds for three generations.
What are your thoughts on fluorescence? Apparently it decreases the value 15% but it isn’t visible normally.
Fluorescence may or may not affect the appearance of the diamond. Sometimes a stone with fluorescence may appear "milky", thus having less fire and scintillation (known as sparkle as brilliance). The fluorescence may only be visible under ultraviolet light, say if you go nightclubbing.
Fluorescence has 5 levels: none, faint, medium, strong, and very strong. Most common fluorescence color is blue. The stronger the fluorescence, the cheaper the price. Price can be reduced up to 40%-50% depending on the level fluorescence and how it affects the appearance of the diamond. Important to note, fluorescence also affects the salability of the diamond.
How do you ensure that your diamonds are real/untampered? I read that apparently even blue nile gets man-made diamonds that slip through. Diamond testers can detect CZ and Moissanite but man made is harder.
There is a difference between CZ (Cubic Zirconia) and man-made/synthetic diamonds. CZ is closer to glass. Moissanite is closer to a diamond. Gemological labs can determine man-made diamonds with a great degree of accuracy. If you're buying bigger sizes then this is less of an issue. Man made diamonds are hard to be detected in smaller sizes (0.10ct or less). And if you buy from a well-reputed manufacturer you shouldn't have any concern.
I also heard that there are fake GIA certificates or altered certs. Apparently more recent GIA procedure will carve the number into the diamond. But does this actually work?
Correct. There are plenty of fake GIA certifcates. We can ask GIA to laser inscribe the GIA report number on the diamond's girdle, and consumers can verify on the GIA website the authenticity of the certificate. However, I have heard cases of some Indian companies that issue duplicate reports and cut lower quality diamonds to match the report, and even laser inscribing the certificate number themselves. All in all, it's important to buy from a well-reputed manufacturer that you trust. And you can still double check by resubmitting the diamond to GIA yourself as a consumer.
Needless to say, we are for a long time and will are here for the long run. Three generations to be exact. Our reputation is as important to us as the diamond we sell. We guarantee that with us you will not experience any monkey business or foul play. Happy customers refer more customers to us, and we prefer it this way.
How do you maximize brilliance/sparkle? Is it based on excellent cut, symmetry, polish?
Mainly yes. We cut the diamond to bring out maximum sparkle without sacrificing too much weight or value loss. All else equal, excellent cut/polish/symmetry would have higher brilliance. In reality, no stone is equal to another one. So it just boils down to experience and this is why it’s super important to have an experienced and professional jeweler.
Where do you get your diamonds from?
We mainly get our rough supplies of white diamonds from Alrosa, a Russian mining company, as well as from a few Canadian minning companies. Our fancy color diamonds mostly come from the argyle mine in Australia, operated by Rio Tinto.
Do you have access to conflict free diamonds? Are they more expensive?
As of 2020, there are no blood diamonds in the market. In fact, since early 2000s 99% of the diamonds in the market are conflict free. In the past, the 1% of rough that did infiltrate the market was undetectable and therefore there is no price differentiation.
Can you elaborate more about what are blood diamonds?
Blood Diamonds, or Conflict Diamonds, are diamonds that mined in areas controlled by rebel forces that are opposed to internationally recognized governments. The rebels sell these diamonds, and the money is used to purchase arms or to fund their military actions. As a result, the UN, together with the WFDB (World Federation of Diamond Bourses) introduced the Kimberly Process Certification Scheme. This procedure requires each nation to certify that all rough diamond exports are produced through legitimate mining and sales activity.
We have a few settings in mind already, but depending on the size of the diamond, we may need to adjust. Does low/high setting or workmanship of the setting affect the sparkle?
Yes, absolutely! The setting can make a huge difference. Professional settings can add a lot of sparkle to a "bad" diamond, and vice versa. A poorly made setting can reduce the sparkle of an otherwise perfect diamond. We have a lot of experience in setting big stones and we will work with you to maximize the center diamond’s sparkle and brilliance.
What are your company's guarantees and shipping?
We guarantee real natural diamond, high level of professionalism and integrity, and secured shipping.
How do you ship the diamond?
It depends to where we ship and what is the value. To major cities around the world, if available, we use a specialized armor carrier we work with for years. In other cases, we may use carrier service like FEDEX, UPS, and DHL. For very expensive diamonds, $250,000 and up, we recommend picking it up from our one of our offices or secured locations we work with around the world. In any case, the shipment is fully insured to protect both us and the consumer.

For the US, there is no sales tax or duties for shipping a loose diamond.
